Those of us who are familiar with this subset of the romance category know it is made popular mostly by Charles de Lint, Neil Gaiman and Emma Bull. In many areas, it is referred to as "fanfiction, surrealist stories, faeries, fairy tales." All of us will agree that this genre is mostly populated by the faeries and denizens of the otherworlds where ordinary things, people, and objects take on a much larger significance.
Many critics and literary luminaries say that this genre, created around the 1980s represents the boundaries and borderland separating the known world from the supernatural, fantastic and unknown worlds. This is why we feel so interested in finding out, exploring what else may lie there, anywhere out there.
With Urban Fantasy Publishing, our readers will be able to relate to the settings, environment which the characters inhabit. We find some of these famous characters in Tolkien's Middle Earth. His and other fantasy books such as The Lord of the Rings represent some of the best in the field. Human beings have always been attracted to faeries and elves, vampires and zombies, werewolves and trolls etc. The most interesting thing that urban fantasy does is to place these characters in our contemporary, modern worlds.
In UrbanFantasyPublishing, we will be focusing mostly on shapeshifting, future borderworlds, vampires and otherworld creatures and denizens. We want to release books that will interest the Young Adult categories. In the end, we want to publish books that most readers can enjoy.
